Statement
device [dih-vahys]
–noun
1. A thing made for a particular purpose
2. A crafty scheme; trick.
3. A motto.
The device is a visual language that can be adapted and re- arranged according
to a desired effect. My paintings are thoughts or ideas crafted into a visual
form, simple tricks with colour, tone and perspective act as switches for
alternate meanings.
Shape or shadow
Debatable shapes and shadows make hybrid paintings that can be viewed as
objects or a representation’s.
I’m interested in replicating patterns both literal and theoretical, using
similar shapes to act as a rhythm, reoccurring patterns are adapted through
interpretation from one painting to the next my practice develops as it is
painted.
I’m not painting about painting but painting about seeing a painting.
